Hey guys and girls, all you sports fans! Hope you guys had a great weekend! Let’s hope today, Monday treats y’all pretty good!
First off, what a weekend it was in the NBA! Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and Dwight Howard all went off. I guess you cannot leave Ray Allen off this either. Allen guided the Celtics back to win after being down at halftime to the Knicks.
Here is the stat lines for these guys, along with some highlights:
Rose: 39 points, 39 minutes, six assists, six rebounds, three blocks, 19-21 from the free throw line (he’s learned to make it from the charity stripe since his days at Memphis), and 10-23 from the field (44%).
Durant: 41 points, 43 minutes, nine rebounds, three assists, 12-15 from free throw line, and 13-22 from field (59%).
Westbrook: 31 points, 37 minutes, six rebounds, seven assists, and 12-23 from field (52%).
Howard: Despite the loss, and his career high, Howard notched 46 points in 46 minutes, 19 rebounds, one block and assist, 14-22 from free throw line, and 16-23 from field (70%).
Here is a video of yesterday’s great moments in cased you missed the action:
In other NBA news, it was kind of a shocking weekend. The Bulls escaped a scare from the Pacers. Wuffda! Derrick Rose was ice in the last two minutes, along with Kyle Korver’s huge three in the last two minutes.
Miami had a close game with Philadelphia, and the Celtics had to avoid a scare from the Knicks, and it was all Ray Allen as he had the magic.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tweeted this about Allen, “Best. Shooter. Ever.”
In the other Eastern Conference game, the Hawks beat the Magic at home. I didn’t see that coming.
In the Western Conference, who would of thought the Grizzlies would beat the Spurs at home, and it would be without Rudy Gay. Or perhaps, who thought the Hornets would beat the Lakers at Staples. Chris Paul had all the magic in that one.
Dallas beat Portland at home behind Dirk’s good game and the Thunder took care of the Nuggets at home which was a great game. That series will continue to be great.
Second, in other news Tar Heels forward Harrison Barnes is returning, which means UNC is going to be awful good next year. Their the early favorites. Please Kyrie, come back to Duke and don’t hire an agent!
Dwight Howard was named NBA’s top defender. No surprise here.
Twins still slumping, though they won yesterday against the Rays. Joe Nathan pulled from closer role, and Matt Capps in as closer.
In case you’re following the Madden 12 cover vote, it will be Peyton Hillis against Michael Vick for the cover. Hillis beat out Rodgers, and Vick beat Peterson.
Finally, the All Ball Blog, (http://allball.blogs.nba.com/), put together a video of all 214 of Blake Griffin’s dunks this year. It’s worth the watch! Here it is:
That’s all for today! I’ll be back tomorrow. Enjoy today’s blog and keep reading!
