It’s Monday, May 9, 2011! Time flies when you’re in college. Only two weeks left. The weather is finally warming up here in South Dakota, and it’s great to be outside again!

First, the Lakers got swept by the Dallas Mavericks. Will Phil Jackson retire now? That’s the big story, and no one is talking about how the Mavericks were able to knock down the two time defending champs, Lakers. Well, for one, the Mavericks took the Lakers out of team chemistry. Two, the play of J.J. Barea was fabolous. Can you say underrated point guard? Three, Dirk Nowitzki is on a tear. He finally has players stepping up around him, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Barea, to name a few. You have to think that the Mavericks will be tough to beat with this momentum going into the conference finals.

The Bulls lost to the Hawks last night, and now go back to Chicago Tuesday night with the series tied 2-2. Hmm. This game the Bulls must win. Derrick Rose scored 34 points on 35 shots last night. Interesting to say the least. Rose also had 10 assists for the double-double. The Bulls didn’t get much from Joakim Noah, Keith Bogans, or Kyle Korver. The three combined for 11 points. Remember Bogans has to make at least six points for the Bulls to win. (Bogans had three yesterday). For the Hawks, Jeff Teague has been brilliant. He has been a great replacement for the injured Captain Kirk Hinrich.

Tonight, the Celtics look to even the series with the Heat at 2-2. On Saturday, the C’s beat the Heat at home. It will be in Boston again tonight. Rajon Rondo dislocated his elbow, while Kevin Garnett scored 28 points and had 18 rebounds.

Also, tonight, in Memphis, the Grizzlies have a 2-1 lead. It will a great match-up to watch, especially Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of Thunder against the inside presence of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol for the Grizzlies.

Second,  a second no-hitter was thrown last week by Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. It was Verlander’s second of his career. Francisco Liriano of the Twins did it earlier in the week.  I guess it was the week of the AL Central pitchers.

That will be it for today! I’m going to go enjoy the nice weather and go for a run!

See ya later guys and girls sports fans!
